Is there not something more to being alive and human, than juggernauting along, evaluating progress and solving problems? However, I still hope to read the full "Principles" text, in case I have missed something。。。 。。。more

A good narrative illustration of some of the core principles Ray suggests to live by, which are by their most distilled form。 Looking forward to read his book Principles next。

I’ve been meaning to read Principles for a while but couldn’t commit to the length for what seemed generally straightforward advice。 So I read this children’s book version instead。As a children’s book, it’s fine。 The illustrations were repetitive and basic and the length (over 100 pages) was way longer than most children would put up with。That said, the principles are sound and I’ve found the same lessons in my own life。 As a guide to living, I cannot disagree。 But it was a little rich (lol) to I’ve been meaning to read Principles for a while but couldn’t commit to the length for what seemed generally straightforward advice。 So I read this children’s book version instead。As a children’s book, it’s fine。 The illustrations were repetitive and basic and the length (over 100 pages) was way longer than most children would put up with。That said, the principles are sound and I’ve found the same lessons in my own life。 As a guide to living, I cannot disagree。 But it was a little rich (lol) to consider a billionaire hedge fund manager saying pretty much anyone can accomplish what they set their mind to following these principles。 Yes, following these will likely get you further than not following them。 But some people start with the wind in their sails and some people are going against a current。 I can’t say I’m surprised by this but it does sour me to the overall message, which is a good one。 。。。more

This book is an illustrated and simplified summary of Dalio's "Principles" which is an exceptional read。 I read this individually with my kids who are in the 6-12yo range。 Context: my kids don't love reading, and it usually takes vivid imagery (visual or written) to engage them - self-improvement doesn't usually fall into this category。 2 of 3 enjoyed it, my youngest couldn't put it down - I did not expect that。 The booked helped my kids understand that "success" means many things, more than mon This book is an illustrated and simplified summary of Dalio's "Principles" which is an exceptional read。 I read this individually with my kids who are in the 6-12yo range。 Context: my kids don't love reading, and it usually takes vivid imagery (visual or written) to engage them - self-improvement doesn't usually fall into this category。 2 of 3 enjoyed it, my youngest couldn't put it down - I did not expect that。 The booked helped my kids understand that "success" means many things, more than money and material things。 They asked so many questions! This book is certainly not only for kids, in fact I catch myself regularly picking it up as a reminder of Dalio's valuable teachings and for inspiration。 Like Principles, this book is a gift from Ray Dalio for which I'm grateful。 Highly recommended book, especially for youth。 。。。more

An excellent distillation of Principles into a short story format, a book for children with deep wisdom that adults will instantly recognize。

Although this book is a picture of books and seems to be made for children, I thoroughly enjoyed it and gained a lot of value from the book's principles。 The end of the book has an exercise that helps you imagine what to expect in your life arc and plan accordingly。 I found this very thought-provoking and plan on repeating this exercise in the future。 I look forward to reading his more in-depth book, "Principles: Life and Work。" Although this book is a picture of books and seems to be made for children, I thoroughly enjoyed it and gained a lot of value from the book's principles。 The end of the book has an exercise that helps you imagine what to expect in your life arc and plan accordingly。 I found this very thought-provoking and plan on repeating this exercise in the future。 I look forward to reading his more in-depth book, "Principles: Life and Work。" 。。。more

I enjoyed this book it was told in a very simplistic way which makes for easy reading that even kids can understand and once again took some things away from this book。 It would be a book I pass down to my future kids when teaching them principles and values for life。
